I'm NOT a winter person. I can't stand temperatures any colder than the 50's (hypothyroid syndrome) and I personally think snow is a big pain in the tookus. I admit that it is awfully pretty over the bay and it is kind of fun to be "snowed in" with my hubby for a couple of days but, enough is enough already. I can't believe we've missed two meetings due to the weather this year. Sussex County is supposed to be temperate. I feel like we live in the Poconos. Where is Al Gore in all of this? I thought it was global "warming" Al?! Two years ago, I was sitting with my family on the beach at Cape Henlopen State Park on October 12...in a swim suit! We had frost warnings this October. Did we get it wrong? Is it really global "cooling"? I want to go outside and ride my bike or go for a walk. I want to take Julia to the playground. Cliff says I can't drive until at least Wednesday! I don't even want to talk about the Super Bowl party we're missing. So, here's my plan...I'm going to make Margaritas and listen to my Jimmy Buffet tunes. I'm also going to call Terry and vent...there....I feel better now!
So, how are you all coping with cabin fever????

At Last!
Hello there Social Pages. Yep, we're back online! I do apologize for not maintaining the blog; I'm just entirely too busy and keep forgetting. I can't believe how fast a month goes by now. It seems like we've just had a meeting when it's time for another one. So much has happened since my last post. We've enjoyed wonderful meetings at Sue's, Peggy's, Joan's and Elizabeth's since my last post. We also met at my house in October. We were scheduled to meet at Maria's this month but had to cancel for weather. Can't wait to see your new home, Maria! In December, we didn't have a regular meeting but enjoyed a fabulous dinner at Fin's Restaurant to celebrate the holidays. I just realized today that our first club meeting was three years ago tomorrow (January 15, 2007). So much has happened since then; we've lost touch with a few of our members and gained a few (wonderful) new members. We've read some interesting, intriquing, books and enjoyed stimulating, sometimes hilarious conversations. We've agreed on some points and disagreed on others. Perhaps most importantly, we've enjoyed each other....very much...and that's the most important thing of all (in my opinion). Yes, we're a "book" club and I very much love reading and discussing books, but the fellowship and friendship we have enjoyed in the past three years is so wonderful. Don't you think so?
I will try to post the names of our last few books on our blog as well as meeting information for next month. But, the reason I began the blog, aside from using it as a place to post book and meeting information, was to provide our members with a place to keep in touch and to discuss our book selections! PLEASE feel free to post thoughts here as you read our latest selection as this is OUR blog...I don't have to be the only one talking (just ask my husband!), and your thoughts will spur comments from other members. See you next month!

Spring 2009
Hello to all. Thanks for a great meeting last week. As usual Judy's home was warm and welcoming and we had a very interesting conversation about the last book. Please check the rest of the blog for info on our next meeting and our next book. Does anyone have a great word for this month??
If April showers bring May flowers then we will most certainly have many beautiful blooms next month. Rain, rain, rain....
Please check the comment section from last month to see some wonderful links for book clubs provided by Elizabeth. I will also post them on the links section.
How are you doing with this month's selection? I'm having some trouble with it; not the book or the story per se, just the content. It's hard for me to read such a gut wrenching story. Isn't it every mother's greatest fear?

Discuss our current selection here!
What are your thoughts on our past few books? It seems like everyone enjoyed The Shell Seekers! What about our current selection? Comments please!!!
Well, spring definitely came in like a lion. How about that snow???? I don't know about you girls but I'm happy the first day of spring is just around the corner!
March Birthdays:
Happy Birthday to two of our beautiful "Social Pages": Judy Breune on March 11, and Terry Warrington on March 26! My "baby" Julia Kathleen turns three on March 25, just one day after her Godmother's birthday!!
Thanks to Terry for a fabulous (as usual) gathering of our club for March. Terry's home has always been so warm and cozy and is a perfect place for conversation. And boy, did we have one! The last time we met at her house we talked about the book The Memory Keeper's Daughter and THAT was also one of our most intense discussion. Thanks to everyone for coming with your game on for that night. We missed Lisa, Sue and Joan and hope to see you three girls at our next meeting.
Our next meeting is Friday, April 3, 2009 at Judy Breune's. More details to follow. Please check the blog site for our book club for this month. Terry will provide a discussion point for the book at our next meeting.
Til then, girls!
P.S. As requested, I included the recipe for the spinach bars in the recipe section of our blog.

Welcome back ! Welcome new members!
Hello and welcome back to our members! Welcome, also, to our newest members; Peggy, Joan and Elizabeth.
I apologize for the tardiness of this post, girls. After the book club meeting on Friday night, my daughter came down with a horrible stomach virus that lasted the greater part of five days. To make matters worse, Mommy caught it and was down a couple of days as well. Fun for all.
I will type out and distribute a listing of all of our current members for our next meeting at Terry's. More to come on that one. Please enjoy browsing our blog and check "Current Selection" for information for this month's book.
I will post minutes from our meetings, information about our next meeting and our current selection on this page. Please let me know of any great ideas you have for our blog as it is still in the construction phase.
See you all next month! Robin

Giving Thanks
Hello all...
Despite the fact that most members of our club were unable to attend our November meeting, Terry and Judy and I were able to have a very nice meeting. We missed our fellow members, but had a great time talking, sampling some great holiday appetizers, and enjoying some adult beverages!
We will not have a book club meeting in December but will meet to celebrate the holidays on Friday, December 7th at 7:00 pm at Fins Restaurant on Rehoboth Avenue in Rehoboth. Hope to see you all there!
We decided to hold our November book selections (The Historian by Elizabeth Kostova or Love in the Time of Cholera by Gabriel Garcia Marquez) discussions until January.
Have a Happy Thanksgiving! I'm thankful for all of you!
